Well, this story takes place when I had been playing accordion for three years. I must have been about 12 years old; I loved this piece of music when I heard it on TV. I took the bus downtown to the local music store and asked if they had the sheet music for Dizzy Fingers. They brought it to me, and I paid for it and looked at it. They asked me to play for them, but I refused, I was shy but I also knew if they thought I could play Dizzy Fingers I must be one hell of an accordionist at age 12.
They kept asking me to play, but I made the excuse that I didn’t like to play in front of people. I could tell they knew that I had no idea how difficult this piece was. When I finely got back home, I tried playing the piece but could not make heads or tails out of it.
I think I was a senior in high school before I could play Dizzy Fingers; by that time I could play it fairly well.
